CURIOSITY LOOKS GOOD ON EVERYONE

SHANNON PRUITT
MIDDLE GRADES EDUCATOR

I believe the best learning happens when students are curious, involved, and encouraged to think for themselves. With 13 years of teaching experience, I bring creativity, high expectations, and a genuine love of learning to the classroom.

Hi, I’m Shannon

I'm a middle grades educator with 13 years of experience teaching English language arts and social studies, developing curriculum, and working with students across a wide range of abilities.

I've always believed the best learning happens when students are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, make connections, and discover things for themselves. Give me a classroom full of curious minds, a good discussion, and an opportunity to try something creative, and I'm right where I want to be.

Give students something worth thinking about

Students bring their own experiences, interests, questions, and perspectives into the classroom. I've always believed those things should have a place in what and how we teach.

My approach centers on making learning relevant, encouraging independent thinking, and giving students opportunities to take an active role in their education.

I believe in challenging students, supporting them as individuals, and creating a classroom where they feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and discovering just how much they're capable of.

From lesson plans to lightbulb moments

I've always enjoyed the creative side of teaching. Developing a new unit, finding an unexpected way to introduce a concept, or watching students take a project in a direction I hadn't anticipated.

Here's a collection of lessons, projects, curriculum work, and instructional resources from my years in the classroom.

A few things I’ve learned along the way

Thirteen years in education gave me opportunities to teach across grade levels and learning environments, develop curriculum for highly gifted students, mentor fellow educators, and contribute to school-wide programs and initiatives.

Since leaving the classroom, I've also spent several years in children's ministry and creative entrepreneurship, building on many of the same skills I've always valued as a teacher: communication, collaboration, creativity, and a willingness to keep learning.

I'm looking forward to bringing those experiences into the next chapter of my career.
